Good Christian people, I am come hither to die, for according to the law, and by the law I am judged to die, and therefore I will speak nothing against it. Anne Boleyn was many things, but she was not a whore or an adulterer or a witch nor did she commit treason or incest. She was a woman living in a world that told her she would never compare to a man. A world which dictated that her only use was of that which came out of her womb. Anne Boleyn was a woman who was far ahead in her ideas. She was a patron of the arts and incredibly charitable. She was a woman whose education rivaled that of the greatest learned men of her day. She changed the world by saying she would not be a mistress. Without her, there would have never been a Golden Age. Without her, there may have never been a Church of England, or even possibly a group of people who wished to seek religious freedom in the New World. Anne Boleyn was the most influential Queen Consort of England.

The fact I love is that Elizabeth became a great queen of England after her sister’s death. Although she wasn’t a boy her father wanted so much, her years are called “golden age”. It’s like Anne’s revenge on Henry. She was right saying her daughter’s going to be greater than any of his future sons.

Good Christian People, I have come here to die according to the law, and thus yield myself to the will of the king, my lord. And if in my life I ever did offend the king’s grace, then surely with my death, I do now atone. I pray and beseech you all to pray for the life of the king, my sovereign lord and yours, who is one of the best princes on the face of the earth, who has always treated me so well. Wherefore, I submit to death with a good will, humbly asking pardon of all the world. If anyone should take up my case, I ask them only to judge it kindly. Anne was queen of England and the second wife of Henry VIII; she spent most of her childhood in France and returned to England as a young woman. In 1526 Henry began his pursuit of Anne. She resisted his attempts to seduce her, refusing to become his mistress as her sister Mary had.Henry wanted to annul his marriage to Queen Catherine so he would be free to marry Anne. When it became clear that Pope Clement VII would not annul the marriage, the breaking of the power of the Catholic Church in England began. In 1532, Henry made Anne the marquess of Pembroke. The following year, they married and Anne gave birth to one of the most capable female monarchs - Elizabeth I.To Henry’s displeasure, however, she failed to produce a male heir. 

Henry had Anne investigated for high treason in April 1536. She was arrested and sent to the Tower of London, where she was tried and found guilty. She was beheaded on May 19, 1536.

Through the centuries, Anne has been called “the most influential and important queen consort England has ever had”,since she provided the occasion for Henry VIII to divorce Catherine of Aragon, and declare his independence from Rome.
